Flavoring: With a body as full as any premium coffee, Sumatra is frequently described as syrupy. Despite a subdued acidity, the tastes are complex and intense, and a chocolate sweet flavor often holds earthy undertones. Plum, wine, strawberry, orange, sweet and smooth, full body.
Immediately above the Indonesian island of Java is the island of Sumatra, where a number of different coffee styles can be found. Most people consider the Mandheling region to produce the finest of all Sumatra coffees, with the plants being located on the slopes of Mount Leuser, and a region considered to be one of the most ancient and varied ecosystems in the entire world.
Distinctive as a single bean, the Mandheling beans are often used in blends to add body and earthy spice notes.
The recommended roast of a Sumatran coffee bean is a dark roast.
